Bought; Maybe, Brought Home: A GOAT and COCK TALE
As the meal was splashed to the ground, I could sense it wondered what kind of meal it was, right before its eyes is a ready to eat meal. Nevertheless I realized it wouldn’t eat, maybe so. Another unnecessary job for me: ‘cleaning it up will be easy but annoying’.
Then it made a few steps closer, oh! It might eat. Closer as it got, the time between making the first peck and when the food got splashed kept increasing. Then it looked right, left, right again, still not made the first peck! What was wrong? It kept wobbling, going back and forth; looking sideways as if trying to protects its territory. Then I recollected a scene of feeding poultry birds. In fact it was always a struggle for the meal among these hungry birds. Does this bird feel other birds are there to have the meal with it? Is the bird trying to protect the splashed meal that I know could be enough for two of its kind (not your regular bird)
I recollected a lot of opportunities I have had in the past where I had to compete for a spot, I ensured I put in the needed effort required in other to receive my fair share. Like Larry, it’s not enough I succeed everyone else must fail was my mantra (still contemplating a renewal of mind).
This meal was for the bird alone yet it was trying to protect its territory, like my thought pattern, it’s not enough it got its share, every other bird present wasn’t suppose to take a peck. Unfortunately, it was for it alone: some meals are for you alone, take it! No one is competing with you for it. In most cases, others may not even be interested.
For the GOAT, we celebrated Christmas with it, the COCK, it was reserved for future use. Sometimes it’s not even your time to die! Take that step.
