BOGC'S TAKES: WHAT MAHAMA DID BRIGHT WOULDN'T DO

Consider the options one gets as a leader; to put measures in place to ensure your tenure turns out to be a success; to relax and watch followers dirty themselves in the mud while waiting for end of tenure or to catch these followers in any act, educate and point them to the right cause of action. Bent on succeeding as a leader, you have to direct and be directed. The issue we overlook seems to stem from who is directing the leader that directs you as a follower. With the director being a supreme being , there is the likelihood for a successful tenure. Otherwise, what motivates the director becomes the issue of concern. For Bright, I was, Well my directions mostly remained unheeded. They included, stop playing football and study; partially heeded. Study science in senior high school; unheeded. Will you like my laptop to study with in case I offer it; rejected. Tried as I seemed to care, there also seemed to be other ‘directors’. Today he seems to have found success by heeding their dir...

BOGC’s Takes: The Way of Life, What my Family didn’t teach me

As far as I can remember, we can lay hold of three families, Our patrilineal family, matrilineal family and in my case my Christian family: specifically my church. These families are to ensure our life reaches a height they consider suitable especially for us. They ensure we are adequately socialized to be able to cope with whatever life throws at us. Their education made me understand that: 1) In any instance alcohol was not good for me. 2) By keeping me hungry, I was supposed to get up and find something doing for myself. 3) By taking something which is not mine, I open the door for the enemy to have a way in my life. 4) You can love someone wholeheartedly and it will still not be reciprocated.  5) By telling lies, there are consequences and it usually lead to more lies. Finally, my heavenly family which I forgot earlier can ‘blow your mind’. Aside: Concerning the topic, it’s s**

Bought, Maybe Brought Home, A GOAT And COCK Tale. Episode 2

At about 6:00pm, sitting at my usual spot, I watched the bird walk towards its assumed sleeping place. The porch behind the kitchen, Unfortunately, today, that was the spot the ‘Oga’ of the house was preparing her meal. It is either the bird waits till the ‘Oga’ of the house finished the meal or it looks for a new place to lay its head. Unfortunately, it did none of these two. Its choice, was to fight for its spot: at where ‘Oga’ is preparing the meal! Your guess is as good as mine. It received a beating . That is not the interesting part wait! Sometimes life presents us with opportunities on a silver platter, we win with ease,  nevertheless at other times there is a stumbling block at the same ‘platter’ life gave you. Sometimes instead of fighting the stumbling block, the best choice for us is to wait. Let the cards roll and see the turn of events. Don’t fight a battle you are destined to lose! Your time will come although an ‘Oga’ may be deliberately muddying waters.  ...

Prophecy or Prediction: When We Get It Right From The Past To The Future

Is there a difference between prophecies and predictions? Without the taking of dictionaries, I would say, Prophecies come by inspiration and predictions come by conviction.  Now let me gist “Who the inspiration stems from” determines whether it will be a false prophecy or true prophecy. Oh you can give a false prophecy and still not be a false prophet.  Are you predicting or prophesying? And who is your inspiration?  A wise man once said: “You can be in the worst place of you life and still have God on your side”

Bought; Maybe, Brought Home: A GOAT and COCK TALE

As the meal was splashed to the ground, I could sense it wondered what kind of meal it was, right before its eyes is a ready to eat meal. Nevertheless I realized it wouldn’t eat, maybe so. Another unnecessary job for me: ‘cleaning it up will be easy but annoying’. Then it made a few steps closer, oh!    It might eat. Closer as it got, the time between making the first peck and when the food got splashed kept increasing. Then it looked right, left, right again, still not made the first peck! What was wrong? It kept wobbling, going back and forth; looking sideways as if trying to protects its territory. Then I recollected a scene of feeding poultry birds. In fact it was always a struggle for the meal among these hungry birds. Does this bird feel other birds are there to have the meal with it? Is the bird trying to protect the splashed meal that I know could be enough for two of its kind (not your regular bird) I recollected a lot of opportunities I have had in the past wh...

BOGC’s Takes: When It’s time to work in groups

Can you recollect a group assignment scene and what comes with it. Were you the bystander or you were the active participant? How did you take the results after presentation. It is quite evident that during most group projects, we are influenced by the group leadership. More often than not firm and resolute leaders are influential in whether or not we become bystanders or active participants. Their finesse, dexterity, utterances and resolve determine the level of involvement that is brought on board. Most often laissez faire results in under participation. Followers are often made to work by the choices of their leaders. With these group assignments in mind you can easily understand how we grow into adults that feel if something can be done by others, why get involved in the first place. We forget the experience we may acquire, the inputs that we probably are the only ones who can bring them up, the  connections we can establish and finally that we forget we can always be som...
